PROFITOPIA: Closing Weekend Performance + Panel Discussion

An Immersive STEPMOM Experience in collaboration with Factory Obscura

December 27th 2024 - 8:00 PM - 10:00 PM

*This closing weekend show will include a live performance of stepmom’s 4-song EP ‘Profitopia’ directly followed by a panel discussion moderated by Evan Jarvix of Make Oklahoma Weirder.

Due to the incredible response from the community, we’re extending Profitopia through December 30th! As a special bonus, we’re adding a closing show and panel discussion hosted by Evan Jarvix of Make Oklahoma Weirder!

The panel discussion will include the members of stepmom and the Factory Obscura artists who helped create the Profitopia Immersive Art Experience! We’ll dive into the inspiration, process, and discuss how others can collaborate with Factory Obscura on a future immersive art experience in the summer of 2025!

Profitopia is a temporary art installation that transforms stepmom’s new EP into a multi-sensory journey, featuring four distinct environments correlating with a specific song. Participants are encouraged to bring headphones (a pair will be provided if needed), to stream the EP while exploring each environment. Fixed listening stations will be provided for those who do not have a smartphone.

Profitopia invites participants to delve into a world where unbounded creativity is unleashed in the form of music, visual art, and narrative. Presented as a corporate campus offering amenities such as a gym, employee lounge, (and a secret lab), the story deepens as participants learn about the dark secret behind the corporation. Participants enter the scene in the aftermath of a dramatic incident, engaging with the transformed environment.

A $1 donation from every ticket sale supports Rock and Roll Camp for Girls OKC.

About stepmom:

stepmom is an orchestral dream punk band from Oklahoma City. Their unique sound blends dreamy harmonies, ambient cello and synth, with angsty guitar riffs and powerful lead vocals. This fusion captures the essence of disillusionment felt by many seeking meaning in a distorted reality.

The band is the creative brainchild of lead singer and guitarist Lindsey Cox, whose vision is brought to life with the help of musical collaborators: Cheyenne McCoy on bass and cello, Amie Reardon on drums and oboe, and Bailey Pelletier on synth and keys. Together, they create a musical experience that is both ethereal and surreal, reflecting the complex emotions of today's society. stepmom’s music is not just heard but felt, resonating deeply with listeners navigating their own paths in a chaotic world.
