  • Mix-Tape took about one year from brainstorming to finished experience, with just six months of physical installation.

  • The original Factory Obscura team who built Mix-Tape consisted of around 30 artists, including muralists, painters, sculptors, textile artists, poets & writers, movement artists, light & sound artists, actors, musicians, and more ranging in age from 20-something to 60-something. An army of community volunteers also participated in the making of Mix-Tape. Mix-Tape continues to grow and evolve over time, with new additions and new artists, with contributions from over 100 artists over time.

  • Artists were originally sought out by the five founders of Factory Obscura and brought to a mysterious meeting, where they each decided if this was a project they wanted to be a part of. Since then, artists have been added on a project-by-project basis, slowly and intentionally expanding the skill set of our team.

  • Our shop carries a variety of artist-made merchandise, focused primarily on Oklahoma artists. We release an open call for artist submissions to our shop once or twice per year. Follow us on social media or sign up for our email newsletter to be notified.

  • Performers are welcome to submit a performance proposal here.

  • No. Meow Wolf is another collective of artists that we are friends and collaborators with. Factory Obscura is an independent collective of Oklahoma-based artists.

  • No. The Flaming Lips formerly rented this building as a gallery/storage/party space. We took over the lease in 2018 and completely redesigned the interior to create the Mix-Tape experience. The building murals were commissioned by the Flaming Lips, and we added the giant boombox, window graphics, and front porch.

  • We are constantly updating and adding to the experience, so the exhibit is always evolving. This is our first permanent space, and we are open year-round.
