The Secret Is Out
Coming this Summer: A one-of-a-kind space for performance, dining, and creative risk-taking, only from Factory Obscura
This week at an exclusive passholder event, we answered the question everyone has been asking: What is Factory Obscura doing next? The answer is a 6,500-square-foot giant step toward our audacious vision of a campus for immersive art on 9th Street.
As we speak, the artists of Factory Obscura are creating and fabricating a space for radical community-building. This one-of-a-kind venue – located just east of our Mix-Tape experience – will exist as a place to gather, collaborate, dine, and experience together.
“We imagine a space where people can meet up, be comfortable with themselves and with one another… a place where we can all belong, create, and experience together,” says Tammy Greenman, Factory Obscura co-founder and director of strategic creativity.
Tammy explains that the venue will consist of four creative spaces:
Performance Space – A dynamic venue that can physically shift to accommodate all forms of creative expression – indie concerts, immersive theater, spoken word, and other performance art.
Cafe – A bright, colorful space to grab a cup of coffee, a delicious snack, and a little inspiration to set your intent for your day, your weekend, or your life.
Lounge – A relaxing space where you can settle in solo or with friends to imagine your new business, finish your novel, or share a creative dining experience.
Business Incubator – Think of it as 300 square feet of studio/retail space ready-made for risk-taking and forward thinking. An affordable proving ground for new products, services, and other creative ideas. Applications for creative start-up tenants will be available soon, with leases ranging from 1 month to 1 year.
While not an interactive experience, you can expect the same kind of immersive, wonder-inducing, hand-crafted environment that Factory Obscura is known for.
The performance space will launch with an immersive dance experience produced in collaboration with Perpetual Motion, June 18-21 & 25-28.
